We really love to throw around the word “Love” don’t we? We love pizza, going to the movies and watching football all in the same breath. Of course, we love our family, friends and country which has much more substance than loving a cheesy slice of pizza. This morning we talked about Jesus eating with some of His disciples on the beach not long after His resurrection. After a breakfast of fish over an open fire, Jesus asks Peter a very important question not once but three times. He says “Do you love Me”? Peter answered in the affirmative each time as Jesus told him these three things.
Feed My lambs
Tend My sheep
Feed My sheep
Every day we find ourselves surrounded by lambs and sheep. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of going and making disciples.
“Modern idea of success…It is to give of yourself and of what you possess for social ends. In short, you might say it is to make everything and everyone you touch a little bit better. ” (The Tough-Minded Optimist by Norman Vincent Peale)
“If we are not passionately pursuing Jesus as his disciples and in turn obediently making more disciples, do we – do you – really love Jesus?” (Transformed: A New Way Of Being Christian by Caesar Kalinowski)
This song reminds us who we need for strength and direction to have the ability to successfully lead others.
“So Father, give me the strength To be everything I'm called to be Oh, Father, show me the way to lead them Won't You lead me?”
Have a great day!
